Torabhaig Club Reserve Release No 7
Casks 2023 & 2027
Exclusive to Torabhaig Club Members
Our seventh Club Reserve bottling is something a little different - a rare twist in the Torabhaig story. Drawn from just two second-fill bourbon casks, this release began its journey with unpeated barley. But nothing at Torabhaig passes through untouched by smoke. Though there were no phenols going in, the spirit picked up a little on its journey through our smoke-seasoned system - something we like to call Beagan Ceò… a little smoke.
Crafted using Concerto and Laureate barley and matured for over five years, this dual cask expression offers a softer, subtler take on our house style. The nose opens with bonfire smoke and rye spice, tempered by caramel, citrus and coastal air. On the palate, sweet cereal, menthol and toffee apple notes meet gentle peat warmth. The finish surprises - sweet almond and peat linger at the front of the mouth, not the back. Unusual for Torabhaig. Unforgettable all the same.
Bottled at cask strength, non chill-filtered, with no added colouring - just as it should be.
This bottling is only available as part of The Torabhaig Club.
NOSE: The immediate note is a strong freshly lit bonfire smoke followed by a heavy pepper/rye warmth spice. There is toffee apple sticky sweetness layered with sweet caramel. There are undertones of citrus sweetness, salty sea air and a grassy/fresh hay notes.
PALATE: There is a heavy cereal note behind the slightly softened peat warmth with earthy characteristics. A candied sweetness comes through with a subtle hint of vanilla and butterscotch. There are hints of menthol spice which is predominant at the front of the mouth.
FINISH: The finish is sweet almond/marzipan with a pleasant peat smoke spice. The finish lingers more at the front of the mouth which is unusual compared to the traditional Torabhaig which tends to be dominant at the back.
