Welcome to the Sound of Sleat
Behind the Torabhaig distillery is the Sound of Sleat. A narrow powerful strip of sea dividing Skye and the mainland. Called Linne Shleite in Gaelic. And what we've called our next release. It is the fourth chapter of our Legacy Series, documenting the evolution of our Torabhaig 'house style' which culminates in the release of our first aged whisky, our 10-year-old.

The Artwork
The wild and rugged Sound of Sleat hasn't just inspired our whisky but also our packaging.
We are very proud to have had Ellis O'Connor, an amazing local artist from the Sleat Peninsula, capture the essence of the Sound of Sleat for our label and box.
Watch and listen to her at work in this lovely ASMR film and follow her on Instagram for more of her art. Or, read our chat with Ellis here.

The Sound
We reimagined The Sound of Sleat - a reel first composed by Donald MacKinnon and also inspired by the sound behind our distillery. Now, Highland musicians Mairearad Green and Mike Vass have brought it into the present, capturing that same spirit in a bold new form. Listen below.

The Whisky
We love to explore the world of peat, inspired by our beautiful sorroundings and thriving community. Subtle, elegant smoke flavours - or as we like to call them 'smoke with taste'.
This special Batch Strength release is drawn straight from the cask for a bolder, stronger take on our Sound of Sleat, bottled without reduction at 60.2% for a longer finish.
Made with a mix of Concerto and Laureate malted barley with an in-grain phenols level of 78PPM+ and in-glass phenols level of 19PPM.

Nose: introducing itself with a balanced blast of smoke, brine, and sweet oak spice; this batch of Sound of Sleat has subtle tones of fragrant tobacco, orange barley sugar and touches of apricot and seaweed behind the ashy peat reek.
Palate: a big but elegant whisky: zesty oak spice, bonfire embers and a waxy mouthfeel combine with hints of sweet vanilla, white pepper and a little whiff of oriental smoke.
Finish: long and elegant with a youthful fiery spirit kick; the lingering well-knit structure comes through in abundance to give spice, capsicum and more than a little coastal nod that leaves you in no two minds of its island origins.
