In Scottish Gaelic, Taigh means house. To us, it means home.
The first core expression from Torabhaig, Taigh is the purest reflection of our signature house style, ‘Smoke with Taste’.
Crafted to be elegant, expressive and welcoming, Taigh is matured in a considered combination of First Fill Bourbon barrels, Refill Bourbon casks and select Madeira casks, bringing balance, softness and depth to our gently peated spirit.
The Artwork
We’re proud to be working with Aileen Grant, a local artist whose work is shaped by mood, movement and the quiet details of everyday life on the island.
Aileen’s process begins at home responding to familiar ground, shifting skies and the feeling of place. From there, her work moves out into the landscape: the distillery, the shoreline, the weather that never quite settles.
It’s a way of working we recognise. Led by feel. Rooted in place.
Meet Iona Lee
For our first core release, Torabhaig Taigh, we invited Scottish poet Iona Lee into our Taigh, our house, to put feeling into words, and give voice to the spirit of our home.
Because this is more than a dram. This is our signature house style - Smoke with Taste. Elegant, expressive, and full of character.

The Whisky
We love to explore the world of peat, inspired by our beautiful sorroundings and thriving community. Subtle, elegant smoke flavours - or as we like to call them 'Smoke with Taste'.
At Torabhaig, we favour First Fill Bourbon as the perfect partner for our style - drawing out notes of vanilla, sweet spice and honey that harmonise with our subtle coastal smoke. Refill casks allow the distillery character to shine through, while the Madeira influence lends a rounded fruit sweetness and warmth.

Wood: First Fill Bourbon, Refill Bourbon & Madeira Casks
Nose: Seaside embers and flint smoke are balanced by earthy woodland notes, evoking an autumnal forest walk. Sweet layers of baked apple pie, maple syrup, and gentle raisin richness emerge, alongside a touch of clove, cinnamon spice, and a hint of cereal biscuit.
Palate: Light to medium-bodied, with soft smoke wrapped in vanilla custard, toasted almond and sweet dried fruits, all carried on a smooth, oily texture.
Finish: Gentle yet spirited, with toasted oak and a sprightly touch of tannin. Lingering vanilla and red fruits mingle with cinnamon and clove spice, before settling into a persistent, pleasant smoke that rounds it off with both warmth and approachability.
