The Linton Wyrm
Echoing the legend of Scotland’s last dragon slain by de Somerville of Linton, this blend channels fire and courage. A 12-year-old whisky matured in sherry and rum casks, then re-aged in peated single malt casks, creating a smooth, smoky dram with a flicker of heat at the finish.
Bottled at cask strength without chill-filtration or colouring. Presented in a beautifully crafted gift box.
Nose: Candlewax, hint of sweet smoke and ember, red fruit.
Palate: Smoky, pipe tobacco, honey, sweet bonfire, undertones of red fruit. A little tannin to help the finish end with a touch of fire.

The death of Scotland’s last Dragon lived here in the Borderlands at a spot still known as the “Worm’s Den,” in Linton, Roxburghshire. Emerging from its lair at dusk and dawn it ravaged the countryside and left the surrounding area barren.
Stories of the wyrm reached many an adventurer, but it was one John (or William!) de Somerville, a man of great courage who journeyed to Jedburgh and hearing firsthand of encounters with the beast had a local blacksmith forge him an iron trident upon which he could impale a hunk of flaming peat tipped in tar and brimstone. He practiced riding, as if at a joust, with the burning spear and intention of driving his spear down the dragon’s maw when it tried to seize him.
When he finally attacked it, he plunged the burning lance into the monster’s gaping mouth and down its throat, mortally wounding it. In celebration, the locals granted the brave knight a celebratory feast and he later took a dragon as his coat of arms. We are sure that de Somerville would have enjoyed a whisky that reminded him of his great feat, so we have blended a smooth rich smoky dram with a tickle of fire at the finish.
